The Australasian Association of Histology and Histotechnology invites submissions from histotechnologists, researchers, educators and industry leaders.

Please carefully review the submission guidelines below before submitting your abstract.

Abstract Types

Authors are invited to submit one or more abstracts in the following formats:

Oral Presentations – 30 minutes

A 30 minute presentation (25 minutes + 5 minute Q&A) designed to allow speakers to share insights, research, innovations, case studies or workforce initiatives with the audience.

Poster Presentations

Hard copy posters will be displayed in the trade exhibition throughout the conference with dedicated viewing times during breaks. A poster is a concise visual summary of your work – combining text, images and data to communicate key messages and encourage discussion amongst delegates.

Abstract Submission Process

All abstracts must be:

1) Structured providing an outline of the aim/s and content of the presentation.

a. Submitted via the Abstract Submission Portal. Abstracts will not be accepted via email, mail or USB.

b. Submitted by 5pm Australian Western Standard Time (AWST) on Monday 13 April 2026.

c. Submitted in English.

d. Word limit: 500 words max (recommended ~300 words)

e. Biography: Up to 150 words including name, title, affiliations and expertise.

2) It is the responsibility of the submitting author that the submission has been approved by all authors before uploading to the portal.

3) Accepted oral presentations will be 30 minutes (25 minutes + 5 minute Q&A).

4) Accepted poster presentations will remain on display for the duration of the conference.

5) The Organising Committee will not be responsible for any errors published and has the right to accept or refuse any paper.

6) The first presenting author provided on the portal will be the primary contact for all correspondence.

Poster Presentation Criteria

Please follow the criteria below to prepare your poster presentation should your submission be accepted:

Format: A0 portrait, printed hard copy.

Title: 48-60 pt; body text 24-32 pt (readable from 2 metres).

Structure: Clear introduction, results and conclusion; avoid large data tables.

Visuals: Use high-quality images with legends that support your message.

Display: Posters remain on display for the duration of the conference; to be collected on the final day.

Quick Tips

  • Prioritise your key message – keep methods concise.
  • Prefer charts/figures over dense tables.
  • Use sentence case; avoid ALL CAPS and mixed fonts.
  • Ensure colour contrast for accessibility.

Conditions
  • Oral and poster presentations must not contain any kind of advertising.
  • Abstracts must be the author’s own work.
  • Abstracts that do not include sufficient data may be rejected.
  • The invitation to submit an abstract does not constitute an offer to pay travel, accommodation or registration costs associated with the conference. Similarly, no speaker fee is paid to successful presenters.
  • The Conference Organising Committee reserves the right to allocate abstracts into sessions as they see fit in accordance with the overall program objectives.
